IN THE HEART OF DOWNTOWN WHEATON

Memorial Park is nestled just north of downtown Wheaton. In mid-2020 the finishing touches of a 5-million-dollar renovation were completed to create an enhanced Veterans Memorial Area, new state-of-the-art bandshell, multi-use event space for ceremonies and gatherings, and the Lions terrace overlooking the park from the Mary Lubko Center, which is located on the northwest corner of the park.

Owned and operated by the Wheaton Park District, Memorial Park is the district’s oldest park which was obtained through a land acquisition in December of 1921 from the estate of Judge Elbert Gary. The original bandshell was constructed in 1958. The renovation began in August of 2019. The venue was initially scheduled to open in June of 2020. Due to the pandemic, the opening was delayed until 2021.

With a venue capacity of 1,820 seated or 2,630 standing, this venue offers an intimate concert or entertainment experience complete with the natural shading of the park’s breathtaking trees and landscaping. The entertainment season at Memorial Park will run from May through early October each year and will offer a wide range of entertainment.

The Wheaton Park District’s mission is “to enhance the quality of community life through a diversity of healthy leisure pursuits and heightened appreciation for the natural world.” This venue significantly enhances the downtown Wheaton area and creates a significant impact for the local economy through programming such as the Summer Entertainment Series. This opportunity is designed to maintain the park’s integrity and natural landscaping elements including the parks’ mature trees.

Join us this summer to take in the entertainment, stroll through the park or meet a friend for a picnic.

Tickets are required for most onsite events. The park offers a variety of seating options. The Covered Seating area directly in front of the stage can accommodate open seating or stadium seating (please see your ticket to confirm event setup and if you should bring your own bag chair for seating). The Front Lawn (Inside Ring) area offers a great close-up view of the stage. Attendees in this area can bring blankets or bag chairs to relax on while enjoying the entertainment. The Main Admission Area (Outside Ring) still offers a clear view of the bandshell but is great for larger groups meeting up to enjoy the music or entertainment. Bring blankets or chairs and enjoy the night under the stars. The park also features the Lions Terrace which offers the perfect VIP or private area for large groups or private events. For the safety and security of all our visitors, we ask that you please read our policies and frequently asked questions to be as prepared as possible when coming to enjoy a show at Memorial Park.

We look forward to your visit!
